                      Margaret Mead Essay

I agree and disagree to the extent of Mead's argument. "For many Americans, the concept of success is a source of confusion. As a people, we Americans greatly prize success. We are taught to celebrate and admire the one who gets the highest grades, the one voted most attractive or most likely to succeed. But while we often rejoice in the success of people far removed from ourself- people who work in another profession, live in another community, or are endowed with a talent that we do not especially want for ourself- we tend to regard the success of people close at hand within our own small group, as a threat."

The reason(s) why i agree with Meads argument are because in some points in this argument she is very much correct for example, when we says that "we are taught to celebrate and admire the one who gets the highest grades.." Most of the time parents admire one child better than the other because they want to show the miss behaved child that if you do something good then they might start doing good too. Unfortunately the miss behaved child might take it the wrong way and start acting even worse.
